M-Pesa Ratiba (meaning "schedule" in Swahili) lets you set up standing orders โ automated recurring payments that go out on a date you choose, every week, month, or year. It's perfect for rent, utilities, savings goals, and subscriptions like Endelea Finance.
How to Set Up a Ratiba
Go to M-Pesa on your phone โ Ratiba โ Create Standing Order. You'll choose the recipient (till number, paybill, or phone number), the amount, the start date, and the frequency. That's it. The payment goes out automatically until you cancel it.
What to Use It For
Rent (if your landlord accepts M-Pesa), KPLC tokens, Zuku/Safaricom Home internet, savings contributions to a Chama or SACCO, and subscription services. Basically anything you pay on a regular schedule.
The Important Catch
Ratiba will fail silently if your M-Pesa balance is too low on the scheduled date. Make sure you always have enough balance before scheduled payments go out. Endelea's budget alerts can help you keep track of this.
